CREOL, The College of Optics and Photonics at the University of Central Florida (UCF), invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor or a tenured associate professor or professor position in the area of applied optics for applications including, but not limited to, infrared sensing, LIDAR hyperspectral imaging, and directed energy.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in optics or a closely related discipline and a strong research experience with a record of scholarly publications. The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain a high-quality, well-funded research program, to contribute to the educational programs of the college, including distance education, and preferably would interact strongly with industry and/or with government labs.

CREOL is one of the world’s foremost institutions for research and education in optical and photonic science and engineering. It offers interdisciplinary graduate programs leading to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Optics and Photonics, and a B.S. degree in Photonic Science and Engineering. The faculty and students are engaged in research covering all aspects of optics and photonics including lasers; optical fibers; integrated photonics; nonlinear and quantum optics; imaging, sensing and display. Over the years, the college has maintained a tradition of promoting growth in optics and photonics and a strong partnership with industry. UCF, with an enrollment of more than 68,000 students and growing, is located in Orlando, which is centrally positioned in Florida’s High Tech Corridor between Tampa/St. Petersburg, and Cape Canaveral.

Candidates must apply online at www.ucf.edu/jobs/, and include supporting documents such as a curriculum vita, statement of research and teaching plan, and names of three references. Review of applications will begin July 6, 2020 and continue until the position is filled. For more information about this position, please contact Professor Kathleen Richardson, Search Committee Chair, at kcr@creol.ucf.edu.
