Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW
KIPP Jacksonville Schools seeks teachers for our 5-8 classrooms in the 2021-22 school year. Teachers are usually assigned one grade level, one subject area, and are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing our curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with our families, and other duties as assigned.  Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their School Leader.

All teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Schools work from 7:30am - 4:15pm Monday through Friday.  Student hours are typically 7:45am – 3:45pm. Every Wednesday is a student early release day where students dismiss at 1:30pm. This allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development.

MIDDLE SCHOOL MODEL
There are four "homeroom" teachers on each grade level who each teach a core subject area. For example, there are four teachers on the 6th grade team and each staff member teaches every student on that grade level for one subject. Class size is typically about 26 students per class.

Subjects on each grade level include English language arts, social studies, math, and science.

Certification should be clearly indicated in the application.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Our current compensation and benefits structure is very competitive and is commensurate with experience.

  • Our current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,00
  • Free individual health benefits (including medical, dental, and vision)***
  • Free individual short-term and long-term disability insurance***
  • 403(b) retirement program with a company match***

To support teacher practice and their growth, all lead teachers receive individualized coaching and professional development.

***This offering is subject to change for the 2021-22 school year. Terms would be outlined in an offer letter, if issued.
